New York Times bestselling author, Tess Oliver, brings you a sexy new adult romance, Book 1 of the Bluefield Bad Boys series.

We were prisoners of forbidden love, just like Romeo and Juliet but without the poetic, old English double speak and Italian marble balconies

A coal miner’s son, Kellan Braddock always knew he’d follow in his late dad’s steel toed boots. He also always knew that he’d never love anyone as much he loved Rylan Merritt. But sometimes love isn't enough.

Seven years ago, Rylan Merritt left Bluefield Ridge with her heart in tatters. Now she’s back. And Kellan Braddock, the boy from the wrong side of the tracks, the boy who she loved beyond anything has grown into a man. Will she risk her heart again?

The story of a first love so strong it never fades.

3.5 Stars

I haven’t read anything by Tess Oliver before and decided to snap up this beauty while it was on sale. I was quickly drawn into the story and the drama of small town politics in Bluefield.

Rylan decided to return home after an incident with her fiancé. She wasn’t exactly heartbroken but was ready to move on. She wasn’t eager to see her ex-boyfriend again, but due to the small town she lived in she knew it was inevitable. When they crossed paths again I could see that the old sparks were still there, which only grew the more time they spent together.

I liked Rylan, but I thought she was a little naïve at times. I wished she would just stand up for herself and be direct when talking to people to get to the bottom of everything that happened. Her mother tried to take over her life and kept pushing her about her ex-fiancé, she took a long time to get to the bottom of Prom night and quickly fell into old routines.

Although Kellan is perceived as a bad boy, I didn’t think he was that bad. Sure, he slept around, fought in an illegal fighting ring, but he wasn’t overly bad. He worked hard for the mining company in town and was loyal to his friends. He was heartbroken when Rylan left, and didn’t really get over it. He really was a nice guy and I liked him a lot and I was glad he fought for what he wanted in the end. And there were people in that small town than were worse than him, I’ll tell ya!

I really enjoyed the story, watching the relationship between Rylan and Kellan grow once again. I just wished that these two could’ve communicated more after what happened at prom. A lot of their burdens would’ve been eased if they had. However, they worked hard to get back what they once had. I saw some other connections between secondary characters that will be explored in future books in the series and I look forward to picking them up.

Dirty Shame A Bad Boy Romance Bluefield Bad Boys Book 1 edition by Tess Oliver Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Who would of thought that coal miners were as sexy and gorgeous as Kellan. This was a change from what I normally read, but so glad I bought this series. This story of Kellan and Rylan grabbed my interest from the start of book, boy from wrong side of tracks is in love with the rich girl, and this rich girl lives her some Kellan. But like any relationship, they go thru problems mostly caused by other people determined to keep them apart. This story had me laughing, crying and happy. It was well written, but I love all Tess Oliver's books. Love these Bluefield Boys and am so looking forward to Tommy and Dawson's story.
The cover first grabbed me, then as I began to read I was drawn in by the love felt by Kellan and Rylan. Loved each other until her father put a stop to it but in a nasty manner. She thought he didn't want her anymore, left for New York became engaged to a rich doughbag who cheated on her. She left for her hometown of Bluefield, wondering if Kellan would be in the picture. This is my first book by Tess Oliver but I don't think it will be my last.
I did finish this book but wasn't sure I would. The H of the story actually wants to work in a mine where he is for sure going to die an early death and likes to see the coal dust on the h after he hugs her to touches her .Then in chapter 5, even before any romance happens he gets the $hi+ kicked out of him by the bullies of the town who are getting their backing from the h's father.. They almost kill him. Not my idea of a romance story. More like a hard luck story for not only the H but his friends too. They boy does get the girl but as many pages as this was, I would have like to see less violence and more of anything else.
My husband lived in a coal mining town and I have always had a soft spot for them especially when they look like Kellan! However there are very few coal miners that look that good. I am a suck for a good love story especially one that can conquer time and distance. Rylan aka Laine fell in love with a boy from the wrong side of the tracks. Little does she know there is more to the story that broke her heart on that graduation night. When she returns 7 years later she realizes Kellan will always be the love of her life. Will the interference from 7 years ago rear its head again?

While many given it lower reviews I could not put this book down and read it in one day. I can't wait to read Tommy and Dawson's stories!
Kellan was the boy from the wrong side of the tracks. Rylan aka 'Lanie' is the rich Juliet to his Romeo.
Her father did not want her to stay in town and definitely didn't want her to be with someone like Kellan. So he made sure that they were torn apart.
Fast forward seven years and Lanie is back home after finding her fiance banging his assistant in his office. She doesn't even try to stay away from Kellan, nor he, her. What I couldn't get over was her absolute glossing over of his man ho ways and stupidly sleeping with him sans protection. Honestly, he has slept with everything that moves in town and she is just going to brush that under the rug? It's a small town, kind of hard not to run into all his conquests. And him, saying she has only ever been it for him, then why the revolving bedroom door buddy?
Alas, they still fall into a perceived HFN.
This was a full story with well developed characters in a Westside Story meets Dirty Dancing meets Officer and a Gentleman romantic vein as we see hunky guy from the wrong side of the tracks and the sweet rich girl who are true soul mate lovers and yet the forces that be seem to be conspiring against them.

I loved all the characters... Correction I didn't like Meade or Jigsaw they could just go away, but everyone else with their quirks and angst and downright surly behaviour, yeah that's you Thomas. You get caught up in them all and want to just go straight into Dawz and Thomas' story as I'm sure it would be as good.

Only reason I dropped off a star is that while I like the sexy bits I didn't find the need to continually use the terms for body parts as the activity itself was good enough and I found the terms lent a negative air rather than add to it. Sorry but my thought although I'm sure many people out there who like dirty talk like that don't mind.

Great book!!!!
